SMS terms & opt-in policy

Dead End Dining is a small private supper club hosted by David Ornstein in Seattle, Washington. This page describes how we collect consent for text messages, what we send, and how to stop them.

Who sends these messages

Text messages are sent by David Ornstein, doing business as Dead End Dining, from a US toll-free number. There is no third party or marketing partner involved.

How consent is collected

Text messages are off by default. A guest only receives them if they take two deliberate steps on their own account:

  1. Enter a phone number on their account page.
  2. Check the box labeled "Also text me about dinners" to turn on SMS.

The two steps are surfaced twice: on the registration page a new guest sees after clicking their invite link, and later at any time on the /me account page. Only the account holder can enable SMS on their own record — the host cannot enable SMS on a guest's behalf through this self-service flow, and there is no signup form, purchased list, or third-party opt-in.

The exact opt-in copy shown to the guest is:

Also text me about dinners (invitations, RSVP confirmations, and occasional notes from the host). Reply STOP any time to opt out.

The date SMS was turned on is stored on the guest's contact record. If the guest turns SMS off — either by unchecking the box on /me, or by replying STOP to a text — the record is updated accordingly and no further texts are sent.

What messages you'll receive

If you opt in, you'll receive occasional transactional texts about Dead End Dining events, from a US toll-free number:

Typical volume is five to ten messages per year. There are no promotional or marketing texts, and no third-party content. Message and data rates may apply.
